Troubleshooting incorrect username issue when using LastPass
Who is this article for?Usersexperiencing this issue when using LastPass.
LastPass access is required.
This article explains what causes incorrect usernames to appear during user administration.
1. Issue
When administering users from Smartforms Middleware, the Username field is incorrect and shows the username of the currently logged in administrator, rather than the selected user.
Username shows incorrectly as administrator, for the user named Nguyen, Jimmy, with the username jimmy.
Additionally, the password value has been replaced with that of the administrator, although it is not visible.
These substitutions are due to the LastPass browser extension, as it incorrectly identifies these fields as attributes of the currently logged in user. This is a known bug in the LastPass product, which has not been resolved.
Because the behavior is not caused by Smartforms Middleware itself, we can only suggest workarounds to prevent this substitution.
2. Workaround
To resolve the issue:
- Click your browser extension icon.
- Right-click LastPass.
- Select Options.
- Untick Automatically fill login information (under General).
Alternatively, remove the password entry associated with Smartforms Middleware. This will prevent the fields from being automatically filled in with the saved entry.
